Race for Inaugural Asian Amateur Title on in Earnest
Korea’s Han Chang-won has raced to an early four-stroke lead during the final round of the inaugural Asian Amateur Championship, a spectacular eagle at the second helping him on his way to 12-under.
Han’s lead grew from his overnight buffer of two when playing partner and compatriot Eric Chun made a bogey at the first, before the Nomura Cup champion picked up two more shots at the par-five second. Chun was able to birdie the same hole to keep the lead at four shots.
New Zealander Peter Spearman-Burn has also picked up two shots today after three holes to be in equal second alongside Chun at eight-under and the day’s big mover, Matthew Giles.
The Australian scorched out of the blocks to start with four consecutive birdies before adding extras at the sixth, 10th and 11th holes to get to seven-under on the day and share second place.
