Australian pair set early pace at Kasumigaseki
Australians Jordan Sherrat and Kieran Pratt have taken the early lead on two under par after six holes of the 2010 Asian Amateur Championship. 22-year-old Sherratt from Melbourne, Australia, who tied for third at last year’s inaugural Championship, birdied the 360-yard second hole, as well as the 564-yard fifth hole, to set the pace. Then, shortly afterwards, Pratt made back-to-back birdies on the 14th and 15th holes, having got his challenge underway from the 10th tee.
Winner of the 2010 Master of the Amateurs in Australia, Sherratt was the joint leader after 36 holes in 2009 at Mission Hills, but slipped back with final rounds of 74 and 73. He has a career high World Amateur Golf Ranking of 21.
Kieran Pratt, Australia’s highest-ranked player at 37th in the world, enjoyed a grat winter season this year, winning the 2009 Victorian Amateur, 2009 Dunes Medal and the 2010 Lake Macquarie Amateur.
Six players from five other Asia Pacific Golf Confederation member nations trail the Australian pair by one stroke on one under par.
