Unique opportunity for spectators at Asian Amateur Championship
The many golf fans who have made their way to Kasumigaseki Country Club for the final day of the 2010 Asian Amateur Championship are taking the opportunity to pose for photos with two of the most recognisable trophies in the world of sport. On display in front of the clubhouse are the Claret Jug and the Masters Tournament Trophy, which have both been held aloft by golf’s greatest players, along with the Asian Amateur Championship Trophy.
The Asian Amateur is the only event at which the Claret Jug and the Masters Tournament Trophy can be seen together.
While spectators only have moments to savour the experience, whoever plays their way to victory today will be significantly closer realising their dream of competing in a Major Championship for one of these most iconic of prizes, and perhaps even lifting it themselves.
Conditions have now improved markedly and the West Course is bathed in sunlight. Together with lack of wind, the scene is set for someone to make a score, surge through the field, and claim the invitation to the Masters Tournament and the exemption into Open Championship International Final Qualifying that await the winner.
